Fresh Eyeballs

Received from a writer today:

“…just want to check for there vs. their, etc.  and make sure you wanted the first 20 pages or just a representative 20 pages.  I once did a proposal for a dance recital software package and had mistakenly used rectal instead of recital.  Of course it flew through spellcheck.”

Like many things, this is only funny because it happened to someone else. It’s a good idea to have a fresh set of eyeballs read your work. We’re often blind to our own typos. (Not to mention a lot of other things about our writing — and  ourselves! But that’s a whole other conversation!)
